Dr Gavin Van Staden

Having been born and raised in South Africa I was fortunate to be able to obtain unparalleled hands-on training and experience during my under-graduate medical training. This involved experience in an exceptional range and volume of medical pathologies that were under-served due to the lack of medical manpower. These experiences instilled in me a greater empathy for my patients and a realization that I can have a positive influence on peoples lives through medicine even in the most dire of circumstances or prognoses.

I developed a love for surgery early on in my training. After graduating from Medical School I moved to England, and I completed my surgical residency that spanned numerous general, and specialized, surgical fields after which I earned my Membership to the Royal College of Surgeons (England) - MRCS. I then went on to complete a residency in Family Medicine before becoming a Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners (London) - MRCGP. It was also at this time that I completed my USMLE and American Board of Family Medicine exams.

My family and I moved to Utah in 2005 and love everything about living here. I enjoy going to work each day and being a Family Physician where I treat everyone from infants to our most senior of patients, with a diverse spectrum of conditions. In my clinic I am able to utilize my surgical training and skills in numerous ways that benefit my patients to maintain a continuity of care. The wide variety of medical conditions I encounter each day is invigorating and the long term relationships that I am able to develop with my patients of all ages is something I cherish deeply.

I am exceedingly fortunate to work alongside fantastic staff that share the same passion for providing excellent, personalized health care as what I do.

Working in partnership with each patient to provide excellent, personalized and evidence-based healthcare, by empowering each individual, through education and communication to ensure best healthcare outcomes, lifelong.
